2026 Annual Vanier College Big Band Benefit
Back again this year, the Department of Music is delighted to announce the Annual Big Band Benefit Concert.
The Vanier Big Band will begin the evening followed by the J.L. Big Band under the direction of Christoper Smith and will feature the very talented Dean McNeil on trumpet.
Award-winning Canadian trumpeter/composer Saskatchewan based Dean McNeill is celebrated for his work across classical and jazz traditions. A full professor at the University of Saskatchewan, he is recognized for outstanding artistic leadership and excellence in teaching. As Artistic Director of the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra, he continues to collaborate with renowned artists and perform throughout Canada and the U.S.
This annual concert showcases outstanding performances by Vanier students alongside stellar professional musicians from Montréal. Admission is free, with a suggested donation at the door. The concert will mark the inauguration of the Christopher Smith Composition Scholarship, which will be presented for the first time during the event.
