Through inter-library loans (ILL) and document delivery services, Vanier faculty and staff can obtain materials that are not available at our library. Inter-library Loan service is not available to students or Library membership cardholders.
Please note that due to the spending freeze announced in September 2024, this service has been suspended.
Borrowers can expect to keep most materials from 2 to 4 weeks. All loaned material must be returned on time to a staff member at the Services Desk (F-300). Avoid placing the item in the after-hours dropbox. Materials can be renewed only once. To request a renewal, contact us.
Before submitting your ILL request, please check the Library catalogue to make sure we do not already own the item.
The length of time needed to obtain a loan or photocopy can vary considerably (from 2 days to 6 weeks), depending on where the material is available. Users are encouraged to place their requests early and to indicate the date after which the item would no longer be useful. Otherwise, users remain responsible for the item even if it arrives too late to be of use. Those requesting rapid delivery of materials are responsible for any additional charges incurred by the library.
1) Consult the procedure document (pdf)
2) Submit your request to the Collections Librarian
To book film or media for your classroom activity, email Michael Unger with the title and call number of the document, and the date and time for which you need it.
