Congratulations to divers Nathan Zsombor-Murray and Rylan Wiens for winning Canada’s second bronze medal at the Paris Olympics on July 29, 2024.
Nathan Zsombor-Murray, who is currently studying Pure and Applied Science at Vanier College, aims to eventually pursue a degree in engineering.
The Canadian duo secured a total of 422.13 points in the men’s 10-metre platform synchronized diving final, placing them behind China (490.35) and Great Britain (463.44). This achievement marks the first time Canadians have won a medal in this event at the Olympics.
Moreover, it’s the first Canadian men’s diving medal since Alexandre Despatie claimed silver in the 3m springboard event at the Beijing Olympics 16 years ago.
“It still doesn’t seem real,” Zsombor-Murray, from Pointe-Claire, Quebec, told CBC Sports. “I was pretty excited when I saw the scoreboard. After 16 years of non-stop hard work, it’s overwhelming.”
