The Vanier College Cheetah’s Men’s Division 1 basketball team is enjoying its best record in history. Following their latest win Friday night against their rivals the Dawson Blues, the Cheetah’s are sporting a perfect 14-0 record and are currently ranked third in the country. With the win the Cheetahs also clinched first place in the regular season.
The team is enjoying their unprecedented winning streak thanks to a team effort led by players including Khalifa Koulamallah, Nginyu Ngala, Karim Mané, Josh Koulamallah and Steeve Joseph, who was recently named CCAA Male Athlete of the Week for the RSEQ (Quebec) Conference.
Head coach Andy Hertzog and his coaching staff are excited to announce that, building on the strength of this year, they have already received a commitment from a top recruit for next season. Yannice Nlend, a starter on the Quebec Provincial U17 team last summer and a star player for the Aquilons of Brébeuf (Québec), will be joining the Cheetahs.
Sunday, February 17th is Senior’s Day at Vanier. The Cheetahs will host cross-town rival, Dynamiques de Brébeuf, who are ranked 13th nationally. The 3:00 pm showcase game will be the last home game for our senior players, who are all looking for a chance to leave their name in the record books and build on the team’s current spotless RSEQ record.
