Two new parent members appointed to the Vanier Board of Directors
Vanier College is pleased to announce that Melanie de Souza and Spiros Kalantzis have recently been elected to the Vanier College Board of Directors, each for a 2-year term as parent members, effective 15 November 2024. The Board of Directors is the governing body of the College and is composed of nineteen members who serve on a voluntary basis and represent industry, faculty, staff, administration, alumni, parents and students.
Melanie de Souza attended Vanier College from 1991 to 1993 and graduated as part of the first cohort of the Liberal Arts program. Her daughter Emma is currently studying Communications, Media and Studio Arts. Melanie is a member of the Quebec Bar Association and has been practicing in the field of corporate and commercial law for over 25 years. She has extensive experience with corporate boards, governance and administration of both public and private companies (including non-profit organizations and trusts). Melanie began her career in a law firm but has since moved in-house to MEGA Brands/Mattel, Inc. She also holds an MBA degree from McGill University.
Spiros Kalantzis has over 27 years of experience in technology leadership, including his recent role as Vice President at Securityscorecard, a cybersecurity company. His son is a student in the Computer Science Technology program. In addition to his professional background, Spiros strongly advocates for supporting special needs students, drawing from his experience as the parent of an autistic child who is thriving at Vanier. This perspective has equipped him with valuable insights into the importance of inclusive education, and he is eager to help the College continue fostering a supportive and accessible learning environment.
