Student-athlete Bryce Rooney receives Aleo and GSP Foundations Scholarship
Vanier College is pleased to announce that wrestling athlete Bryce Rooney is a 2025 recipient of a $2000 scholarship from the Aléo and Georges-St-Pierre Foundations. A total of $15,000 in scholarships was distributed to seven up-and-coming student athletes in combat sports and gymnastics.
Eighteen-year-old Bryce Rooney who is a second-year Science student, finished second in the under-19 category at the 2024 Canadian Championships. This season, he is aiming to move from second to first place on the podium at the Canadian Championships.
In addition to Olympic wrestling, Bryce likes to get up on stage for stand-up comedy or theater and is very acrobatic!
As he does every year, Georges St-Pierre was present to speak with the recipients personally about their accomplishments and their future.
One of the objectives of the Georges St-Pierre Foundation Scholarship Program is to support student-athletes who practice a sport that Georges himself integrates into his preparation: boxing, fencing, artistic gymnastics, judo, karate, wrestling and taekwondo.
