150 Cegep students coming to Vanier Game Jam 2025, Jan. 18-19

January 14, 2025

Representatives of the media are invited to a photo and video opportunity at Vanier College for the 4th Annual Game Jam, a weekend-long event where avid game player Cegep students become game makers. One hundred and fifty students from 20 Cegeps will take advantage of this unique opportunity to design games of all types, from board games to card games to video games – whatever they prefer. Industry mentors from companies such as Ubisoft, Behavior Interactive, and Rogue Factor will be on hand to help and guide them through some of the more sophisticated aspects of video game design on particular such as pixel art, sound effects, and game narratives.

When: Saturday and Sunday, January 18-19, 2025.

Time: From 9am to 5 pm F-500, Vanier Library.

Where: Library, Vanier College, 821 Sainte-Croix, Montreal, Borough of Saint-Laurent, H4L 3X9.

What: The interest among young people for games is growing constantly. Indeed, while over 400 students wanted to participate, only 150 Game Jam spots were available, a testimony to the growing interest in game development as a passion and even as a career path. The Game is completely free for students, with all meals provided over the weekend, making it an accessible and exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the gaming industry.
