Mini-Biography

Entering his first year as head coach, Scott Mawhinney attended Concordia University where he was a member of the Varsity Basketball Team from 1993 to 1998 while studying in Political Science.  As a player, Scott played for former Head Coach John Dore where they won two Provincial Championships, a silver medal at the National Championship and was captain of the team during his final season.  After graduating, Coach Scott wanted to stay connected to the game of basketball and help develop future players.  He took on the Head Coach position for the Men’s D2 Basketball Team at Dawson College in 2003-04.

Coach Mawhinney’s time with the Blues was short, however the experience during that season at the College was valuable.  He took on a new coaching opportunity at John Abbott College in 2004 to train the Men’s AAA Basketball Team now known as Division 1.  During his tenure as head coach, Coach Scott won a silver medal at the RSEQ Provincial level, a Bronze Medal at the CCAA Nationals and was also named RSEQ and CCAA Coach of the Year.
