Arts and letters
In this program, students study the foundational subjects of human knowledge: history, philosophy, religion, literature and the principles of mathematics and the natural sciences. By exploring the key themes, concepts and questions that tie these disciplines together, students develop their analytical reasoning and their reading, writing and oral communication skills. Modeled on a classical Western education, this program is designed to prepare students for advanced studies in a wide range of domains. Graduates go on to pursue law, political science, communications, English, education, psychology, sociology and more.
Vanier’s Liberal Arts program is a tight-knit intellectual community of engaged students and dedicated teachers. Small class sizes are conducive to a seminar-like format in which students are encouraged to participate in constructive debate and workshop complex ideas together. Beyond the classroom, students enhance their knowledge through outings to museums and theatres in Montreal and elsewhere, creating lasting memories while broadening their cultural horizons.
