It is with sadness, that Vanier College has learned of the passing of former Chemistry teacher, Klaus Sorento Dichmann on March 22, 2025. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Klaus immigrated to Canada in 1951, where he eventually obtained a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Toronto. Subsequently he did postdoctoral research at the Université de Laval before turning to teaching chemistry and eventually joining Vanier College in 1981, where he remained until his retirement in 2006.
Beyond the classroom, he was a certified professional dance teacher in Latin and Modern styles, an avid skier, world traveler, Tandy Model 100 computer and ham radio enthusiast, and a lifelong learner. Klaus enjoyed licorice candy, Victor Borge, and watching snooker. Klaus was known for his kindness, intelligence, and insatiable curiosity, embracing technology and new knowledge throughout his life.
A celebration of life where friends and family will honour and remember his remarkable journey will be held at Voluntas Funeral Home, 4695 St-Jean, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Qc H9H 2A7, on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 1-5 p.m. with tributes at 2 p.m.
